The Canine Diet

Dogs are hunters and scavengers by design - meaning their ancestral diet consisted of primarily meat (including fish) with some lesser amounts of fruit and grasses. In a perfect world we would all feed our canines a balanced raw based diet full of different sources of protein. However, that is not always possible. What we need to keep in mind is that because our dogs are scavengers by design, they will eat pretty much anything, and they can survive off of pretty much everything. Surviving and very different from thriving, and I think we would all sleep better at night knowing that our companions are thriving.

Most modern dog foods come up short in comparison to the canine ancestral diet in three major ways - not enough protein, unbalanced and incomplete fats, and can't be completely nutritionally balanced without some fresh foods.
