TERMINOLOGY
LEARN ABOUT THE LINGO

Pit Bull, Pit, Pittie

These terms are short for one breed, and one breed only - the American Pit Bull Terrier. These are NOT an umbrella term for all bull breeds or anything that looks like it, and should never be used for any dogs other than those registered as American Pit Bull Terriers with a full pedigree.

Bluenose & Rednose

These terms hold absolutely no significance when speaking about dogs and are actually just made up backyard breeder terms - no Responsible Breeder will call their dog's blue/red nose. There was an "Old Family Red Nose" (OFRN) bloodline in American Pit Bull Terriers, but that line is very very old and it was the NAME that a breeder came up with to distinguish their dogs (like we call our kennel Border City Bullies to set us apart). I often relate the blue/red nose thing to being the same as me saying that my dogs are "white toes" - yes, they have white toes...but both things hold no significance in terms of breed, style, bloodline, temperament, or anything important.
