PERSONALITY:

Brick has a funny personality - he is quite easy going but has wonderful work ethic when requested. He is extremely food motivated and reminds me a lot of Woodsie with how quick he picks things up. In public and hectic situations, he is extremely levelheaded and calm and will just sit and watch his handler for direction and rewards. He is very quiet and thoughtful but brings the heat for sports when requested...but will turn it off as soon as he gets back to his kennel and puts himself down for a nap in between his turns at dock dive or weight pull. Dog people tend to call this a good "off switch." We joke about him being very serious about his "jobs" - he is all business when it comes to things he knows and he doesn't waste time or energy playing around for the fun of it. For example, he won't touch his tug on the dock for fun - I'm sure if he could talk, he would say "quit playing around and go set up the throw already!". He does the same thing with wall climb where he watches for you to put the tug up on the wall, he doesn't care for freebies on the ground and tends to ignore you (while staring at the wall) if you try.

He is a definitely a "bull in a china shop" when he gets excited but he loves humans deeply - he is convinced that everyone is his best friend, they just haven't met him yet! He is very appropriate in social situations and has played "decoy dog" for reactive dogs to work on building their confidence. He is truly a lovely dog to hang out with and is easy as they come to live, explore and train with.
